For ABC_OKC : ABC_OKC is a fork from Choopan Rattanapoka original ABC as Tim's release is. I started modifying ABC code back in release 2.6.7, shortly after Choopan stopped updating it. Tim integrated most of my first mods in his release in 11/2004 (algo to distribute bandwidth, URM, counters, GUI improvements,...) and he introduced some features like the language support I integrated in mine. We exchanged some ideas about ABC but shortly after this in 12/2004 we took 2 different paths for ABC evolutions. I wanted ABC to have more features to really make a better and constant use of the available upload bandwidth (see URM, dynamic upload rate control, activity detection) and make every day use of it more easy especially to avoid repetitive manual tasks (see templates and options to automatically move downloaded files and sort completed torrents in list). I like also little tricks in GUI to make access to common tasks easier. I did not want to leave ABC as the "simplest but with no extra feature" BitTorrent client in the world. I've also always tried to track down regressions between 2 releases to keep the last test version plainly usable, as it is the one I'm using. I've added all these functions because I really needed them, and I could not even think of doing without them now ! Try it, just read a little bit of the documentation (please !), and see if it can make your file sharing more efficient and easier to manage. But globally, I'm pretty sure there is plenty of room both for ABC and ABC_OKC in the world of BitTorrent clients ! Once again according to the number and kind of torrents you're sharing, the trackers you connect to and your habbits, some client may be definitely better for you than another one. It's up to you to try. For more informations about ABC_OKC, read ABC310_OKC_test20051103.txt. It has the complete history for all the modifications I made ; the recent stuff is at the beginning of the file, and the old stuff is in the middle just before the documentation for ABC_OKC features.
